There are two variations for initial treatment. Faster results will be achieved without the use of color polish. However, some people will insist on using color. Follow the guidelines below depending on your needs. For those beginning treatment without color polish, one coat of Formula #2 should be applied daily. The formula will need to be removed after 3-4 applications or as it starts to build up on the nail. Remove the protein with a non-acetone remover, wash hands to ensure all traces of the remover have been cleaned off the nail and then apply the Formula #2 again. Continue this routine until the nail begins to respond to the protein, usually within the first four weeks of treatment. Once the nail has improved, decrease application to every other day.

Another way to begin treatment, for those who wear color polish is to use the Formula #2 as a base coat, apply polish and use a clear top coat. It is not recommended to use any polish or top coat which contain hardeners as this will affect the performance of the protein. To prolong the manicure, apply Formula #2 once or twice during the week as an additional top coat. The nail will not respond to the protein as quickly when color polish is used but results will still be achieved. The same steps as mentioned above should be used to remove color polish. It is important to remember that when the protein is used alone, faster results will be achieved. Whichever method is used, the result will be a healthy nail.
