Formula #1 is maintenance for healthy nails. Everyone's goal is to graduate to this formula, with the exception of those whose nails are naturally hard. (See Formula #3) Formula #1 is an equal blend of protein and conditioners. The protein will continue to bond the nail layers together and maintain a strong nail while the conditioners will prevent the nail from getting too hard. A healthy nail is not only strong but flexible. A common problem among Formula #2 users is once the nail becomes healthy the formula is continued to be used. This can lead to the nail becoming too hard causing splitting or low breaks at the stress points. It this occurs, use Formula #1 and the Nail Moisturizer. Do not use Formula #3 which is described for hard nails, this formula is not strong enough to prevent original problems from re-occurring. Formula #1 will maintain the healthy nail while the Nail Moisturizer will restore flexibility. A good way to prevent this is to re-evaluate the nails on a regular basis. Once the nails have stopped peeling, splitting and have strengthened, Formula #1 should be used. Many people may be hesitant to switch due to the fact that they see good results with Formula #2 and want to continue with that formula. In these cases, you may gradually switch formulas. Use Formula #2 as a base coat followed by Formula #1 as a top coat during the week. This method can be used with or without color polish. Once completely graduated, Formula #1 can be used alone or as a base coat and top coat with color polish.
