IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR NAILTIQUES
USERS
Burning or pressure on the
nail surface after applying the nail protein is a result of using a formula which is too
strong or applying too much of a particular formula. It is extremely rare for a person to
be allergic to any formula due to the fact that the base of the protein is gelatin,
keratin and calcium. The purpose of the protein is to encourage the nail to adhere to the
nail bed, this is where the nail gets nourishment allowing it to become healthy. When too
much of a particular formula is used and the protein begins to work, the result may be
burning or pressure to the nail. If this occurs, remove the protein from the nail and use
a milder formula. This will not a cause a fungus or any permanent nail damage. The
following will prevent this situation to occur:
- Never use two coats of Formula #2 or
Formula #2 Plus the same day.
- Do not use Formula #2 PIus unless
Formula #2 has been used for at least one month
- Avoid using any color polish or top coat
which contain hardeners in conjunction with the protein.
HELPFUL HINTS AND SUGGESTIONS
Prior to applying nail protein, roll the bottle upside down between
the palms of the hands as this will blend the protein without causing air bubbles. Shaking
a bottle of nail polish can sometimes create air bubbles which may cause the protein to
peel off after application.
Apply the nail
protein to a clean nail that has been washed with soap and water. This will ensure that
all traces of chemicals have been cleaned oft the nail.
When repairs are
needed, patch as small of an area as possible. Continue to use the nail protein over the
entire nail, including the patched area. The protein will not penetrate through the glue
and will not affect the patch in any way.
When patching a
nail, it is recommended to use a tea bag or silk patch as these are both strong and not
harmful to the nail. It is best to patch a nail at the beginning of the manicure as the
nail will be free of any cremes or oil which could prevent the patch from adhering to the
nail as well.
Avoid buffing
the nails. This creates a shield which will prevent the nail protein from reaching the
nail bed. Once a nail has been buffed, it takes about three weeks for the nail to become
porous to absorb the protein.
If a customer
uses Formula #2 or Formula #2 Plus as a base coat and applies color polish, it is not
recommended to use these formulas again as the top coat. These are strong formulas, two
coats in the same day are too strong for the nail.
Any other top
coat may be used which does not contain hardeners.
Another instance
for Formula #2 users that wear color polish is to apply Formula #1 as a base coat, apply
the color and Formula #1 again as the top coat. Two coats of Formula #l is equivalent to
one coat of Formula #2. When using this method, the client can continue to use their
Formula #2 during the week as an additional top coat.
When referring
to color polish, any shade ranging from an extremely light ivory or off white to a bright
red is considered color.
